Sorry that it's been awhile! You'd think I'd be able to post more often! :) At any rate, we went home to the Quad Cities for the 4th! It was a good time and the weather finally cleared out later in the day! The annual parade went on, and Grandma and Grandpa took Zach to see Uncle Chris driving the fire truck! It was still raining at that point so Matt and I stayed home while Kate took a nap! It was a sacrifice but someone had to do it! Later in the day, the rest of the family came over and Zach had SO much fun playing with his "girl" cousins! We had our own fireworks display and the kids loved it! Kate surprisingly enjoyed the fireworks as well. She just sat in my arms and watched! It was so relaxing! Who thought I would use Kate and relaxing in the same sentence! She is getting in her two front teeth and working on her back molars at the same time! That is NOT so much fun...but we're getting through it!
So this summer has been full of birthdays! Matt's birthday was yesterday but we kind of celebrated on Sunday...and Monday...we kind of have week long celebrations for all of our birthdays! I think I started that since my family is out of town and we don't always get to celebrate our birthdays on our actual day! At any rate, it's always fun! I think that Kate thought that it was still her birthday when we sang to Matt! She was all kinds of excited! She really wanted to put her hands in his cake! Where was that excitement when she had her own cake??? Happy Birthday Matt! We love you lots!
So I think we're already at our terrible two's stage...yes I know Kate just turned 1! Kate really knows what she wants and the only way she knows to express this right now is by screaming and throwing herself back. I don't remember Zach doing this as early...but I guess it has been 5 years and you do block A LOT of stuff out! I'm trying to just set her down and ignore her while the fit happens...then she usually crawls to me and is fine. But WOW! I'm now that mother at the store that prays that her child doesn't throw a fit while we are there! :)
Last Saturday was our friend Cameron's 1st birthday party! The poor guy wasn't feeling too well...Meg was thinking it was his ear! They had just been to the doctor and he checked out fine but continued to grab and poke at his ear! Meg went to Target and got the water slide for the kids to play on! Zach probably went down the slide at least 200 times! Needless to say...both kids were exhausted Saturday night! They had a blast and Cameron was pretty content with Meg!

Here are a few more pictures from the party! Enjoy!
What a big weekend! Kate turned 1 on Saturday and we celebrated by going to Zach's ball game! After the game, we treated her to ice cream. We celebrated Kate's birthday on Sunday at the park with her family and friends! It was a great celebration and it reminds me how lucky we are to have such wonderful friends and family! A big thanks to everyone for making her first birthday so fabulous! Enjoy!
